i watched that new led zeppelin movie in IMAX

I watched that new documentary, Becoming Led Zeppelin, in IMAX and wondered what about a documentary would warrant an IMAX release. Turns out it's because a good chunk of the movie is live performances and the IMAX audio system really helps LZ's sound seep into your soul. It was really fucking cool to sit through, except for the oldheads who kept clapping at the end of every song. Stop clapping! You're ruining my immersion!

I never really understood Led Zeppelin growing up. They were before my time, but I enjoy listening to bands like The Rolling Stones, AC/DC, and Guns n' Roses which all were popular at the same time LZ was, but I never understood what about LZ I didn't like. Until recently.

It's the lead singer, Robert Plant's voice. I feel like LZ makes some of the most infectious instrumentals. After hearing some of their songs, especially in the theater, I want to go buy back my drum set and continue playing. They sound so cool. But I feel like Robert Plant just takes away from how amazing LZ is instrumentally.

To me it just sounds like they found any mumbling idiot off the street and told him to start laying vocal tracks over their songs (I know that's not what happened but still)! I just don't think it works. Some perfect examples are earlier songs like Whole Lotta Love and even later songs like Ten Years Gone.

If there are Led Zeppelin songs that you think will prove this point wrong, please email me and let me know because I do genuinely want to listen to the band, but it's just so hard when I hate the vocals.
